Come, let's sit and watch the parade!

McAlisterville
Bicentennial Parade
If you haven't had the pleasure of watching a parade this summer
maybe you will enjoy these pictures of mine
(without sweltering in the 100 degree weather)

This is for you Melissa
They didn't have Elenore in the parade
but this looks like it could be her cousin:)

Check out the little girl in the back seat
Could she be any more darling?

I just love old automobiles:)

It just seemed like I should capture every Mustang
Seeing how I come from a Mustang loving family and all.

I want one of these some day
Wouldn't it be perfect for yardsaling and estate sales?
Actually fact: Matt and I took some of our wedding pictures in this truck
I suppose Red felt sorry that our leaving -the -wedding vehicle was a Cavalier:)
It made darling photos if I do say so myself

Check out the man on the back seat
I was honestly a lil concerned that he'd be able to hold on for 2 hours
and not die of heat stroke
He had to be atleast 80!

In all honesty
I believe these people really were the highlight of the whole parade:)

Farmer boys

Yes, we are a little redneck/farmer-y
But really we kinda love it that way:)
Mock if you like

Whats not to love?

Not sure who was prouder,
(Thats not a word, is it?)
Grandpa or the boys

Notice they all got their red, black and IH hats on
except Val, she must've thought she was too cool for the hat:)
I'm the weird mom in the reflection
wearing purple and taking tons of picture:)

That, my freinds, is talent!
I never tried it myself
but just the idea that they had to get a running start to got on
suggests to me that I would fail miserably if I tried
You have permission to laugh at any mental pictures my might be getting.

Hope you enjoyed the virtual parade
Now here's a glimpse into
my road trip to Ohio
.

I think I love tunnels as much as kids!

Although I am always curious/slightly concerned what is holding the entire mountain up above us:{

Hey we arrived at my sisters and my son just loved doting over his little cousin Genna

Hey now we are getting ready to leave
(4 days later)
Yeah I didn't make a whole lot of use out of my camera this trip.
Thats all the Weaver cousins by the way

Lisa's big, full of character, lovely, old house.
See the tire swing in the corner?
And they have a lil wooden white barn with a calf in it!
I love it!

And her darling kids
Can you tell they are very expressive?

And all us girls:)
It was so much fun hanging out with my sisters all week!
Wish we could do this more often!
Love ya, sisters!

Well I dont have anything terribly exciting to share with you right now.

Wow .
That is an entertaining beginning to a blog, right there.

:D

Here are a few of the things I have been working on:

I made this dress for my future sis-in-law, Michelle.

I found a pattern for this version of rosettes.
Very easy.
Now would be a good time for 'how to' pictures.
This blog really is riveting , isn't it?

I made this dress for my friend Krystal.
By the way this IS advertising.
I love sewing denims!
If you want one made I'd be glad to help you out with that.

Has anyone observed that I LOVE flounces and rosettes?

Aaahh the canning season.

My favorite! Banana pickles!

I never claimed to be a master gardener.
But I dont know WHAT went wrong with the carrots!
All 4 rows look like this!

I still scrubbed em, diced em, blanched and froze them.

Is it just me

or does this look like a naughty carrot couple :D

Oh Angie, go to bed before you embarrass yourself.

Woops too late.
..

Well thats all I have for now.

Have a good one, Readers!

P.S. I love this little boy <3
He reminds me of his daddy every day.

Mail from my Man

When we were dating I treasured the way my husband signed cards.

It was even more wonderful if he added a few lines.

Once when I was at Bibleschool I got a whole letter!

I think its pretty much a typical guy thing to not enjoy writing.

But now that he is in prison ,

( ok that would be the negative part)

(here's the positive):

I have a huge bundle of letters from him.

Some " today we had cooked spinach ..." kind of letters,

but also very many, very meaningful letters.

It totally makes my whole day to get anything from him!

But lately I have been getting some very exciting things!

Like this guitar.

It was his in prison.

..

And he couldn't get a stand or bag for it to protect it

So he decided to send it home to me.

I really want to learn how to play it!

Today he sent me this:)

Feels a little overwhelming

But its one of my goals for the winter.

I think I can do it

I LOVE music

He has learned so many new skills in prison

He acquired his mechanics license

pretty much mastered the accoustic bass

now he is learning electric bass.

His most recent interest...

This is one of his first drawings

I thought it was pretty amazing

Especially for a guy whose previous idea of drawing was stick figures:)

...

I love my man and all the interests and dreams we have in common.

Cant wait to have him home again!

Here we go- Project #s 4 & 5!

Project # 4
Wedding Dresses

And even if these dresses aren't a very interesting project...

These dresses have been consuming my life

3 weddings and 11 dresses later I feel like I can finally take a breathe!

But only for a little

I still have quite a few customers waiting for regular dresses.

Just to clarify

This is not advertisement

I bit off more than I could chew

I'm not interested in doing more weddings

If you want to see more dresses I made..Check out Julie's wedding.

My Iced Tea in bottles in a tub project.

A.K.A Project # 5

Recognize this?

I peeled off the labels leaving only the symbol on the cap to disguise.

I was so excited when I got my free samples in the mail!

I started painting right away:)

I gave the bottle caps two coats of paint.
The little samplers even have a little brush attached!

(But if you try this I would recommend using spray paint made for metal. After being used and soaking in ice two times now the paint is starting to peel.)

Finished Product

I wanted to put them in an old galvanized tub.

But I couldn't find one

An old canner worked just as well.

So many more projects.

Im so busy right now

But I'm taking pictures as I go and you'll see them eventually:)

Have a great day everyone!

Gardening

The other Sunday I spent the evening lolligagging around my parents farm with my carera. Here is some of what I captured. I could have gotten many more interesting photos. Maybe another blog... Enjoy.

The garden my parents share with me and my sister

Nothing puts everything back into perspective like a gorgeous sunset!

My aunt was throwing these away. I saved them from their destruction:) I cant wait to use them!

This one made me think ' wouldn't it be nice if life were like this and at each turn in the road there was a big sign clearly stating the right way to go?'

This bell called us in from the barn or playing or whatever we were doing on this 200 acre farm when supper was ready!

Someday I will have nice finished flower beds like this.....

A friend brought me these the other day:) I love them!

And finally the finished product from project number 2.

Yes my carpet is a very 70's green. It is quite hard to hide in photos too.

Hopefully in the next blog I will be able to show you some new projects. Have a good day everybody!
